The district’s governing body (supervisors) is composed of 3 elected and 2 appointed Calcasieu and/or Cameron parish producers. Annually, 1 of the elected supervisors’ 3-year term comes up for re-election. At this time, the expiring term holder must obtain 25 nominations via signatures and voting information documented on a State of Louisiana Nominating Petition from April 1st – April 30th. Additionally, this nominating periods also allows any Calcasieu and/or Cameron parish producer to run for that seat. If only the term holder submits his/her paperwork then no voting is needed; however, if any other person would like to run against the term holder submits their paperwork, then a runoff voting is needed.
